You’re relocating to a house with security alarms
A new home may come with an existing home security system. All the alarms and cameras function well, are installed in the right spaces, and are ready to go. In this instance, just get the phone to call and set up a new service contract. A Vivint expert will still show up to make sure there are no integration issues, and they might offer ideas on an upgrade or two. It's a quick visit, and you can have your 24/7 monitoring set up without having a bill for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you add on.
The old owners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time transfer fee to make the process simpler. If the outgoing residents are downsizing to an apartment complex or retirement community, transferring the Vivint service might be a part of the sale.
You need to move and bring your existing equipment with you
You might want to bring along your favorite home security components with you to a new house when you move. Luckily, it's fairly simple to do, as modern smart devices are plug and play. You can remove each component yourself or call a Vivint expert to come and dismantle everything. Then a pro will put in the same features -- and any smart devices you want to add -- in your new home. Your home security contract will stay the same.
